What are FODMAPs?

FODMAPs are a type of sugar that aren't completely digested or absorbed in the intestines. They move slowly and attract water, are fermented by gut bacteria, and produce excess gas. The extra gas and water cause the intestinal wall to stretch and expand, causing exaggerated sensations of pain and discomfort, especially for IBS patients.
How to follow a FODMAP diet
The expert team at Monash University have now developed an online course to help IBS patients better understand their condition and how to safely follow a 3 step FODMAP diet. The 5-module course covers all the essential topics including:
